International airport expansion in Ghana
The second largest airport in Ghana underwent a significant phased expansion. We were engaged by the contractor to cater to their electrical needs for the second phase of the build. This involved the construction of a new terminal building, two boarding bridges, a road network, a perimeter fence, a substation, and parking.
The order comprised cable containment (e.g. cable trays and accessories), electrical consumables, and wiring accessories. We procured, expedited, consolidated, and delivered a huge array of materials and technical documentation to the client site. We also ensured that a percentage of the materials was procured in the UK, so that we could utilise UK Export Finance (the UK Government’s export credit agency). This guaranteed working capital for us, which ensured that the contractor could go ahead with the project, to deadline.
This phase of the expansion is now complete, and the airport is now in a position to service over 800,000 passengers per annum.
Teaching hospital construction in Ghana
The second-largest hospital in Ghana has undergone significant expansion over recent years, which included the addition of a 750-bed maternity and children’s block. We were selected by the contractor to deliver a complete electrical solution for the new block.
We were involved in all aspects of supply chain management on this project, ranging from procurement and expediting to export documentation and delivery. The scope of products included cable containment (e.g. cable trays, bracketry, conduits, and other accessories), wiring enclosures, internal light fixtures, and electrical consumables. In total, over 50 tonnes of equipment was supplied to the client site, hitting every deadline.
Once completed, the block will come with 10 operating theatres, paediatric, gynaecology, and obstetrics units, as well as diagnostic screening facilities. It will also be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, allowing them to enhance the care for all women and children in the region.
Electrical supply for new schools in Liberia
United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) facilitated the construction, renovation, and provision of modern facilities for three schools in Liberia as part of their Youth Rising programme.
To date, we have supplied all of the electrical components required for two of these schools. This encompassed everything from cable management and accessories to switchgear, lighting, and even fire alarms. It was a very broad remit. To ensure a seamless supply chain experience, we took care of everything from procurement, and expediting, to export documentation, and delivery.
Over the course of the project, we delivered eight contracts, which were shipped from the UK to Liberia. What made it slightly challenging was the need to consolidate all materials and split the quantities to accommodate the different site locations in Liberia. That said, we always go above and beyond for our customers and all shipments were delivered to specification, and to the deadline set.
Students attending these brand-new institutions now have the chance to benefit from a quality education, preparing them for a bright future.
