Success
stories

Kiln construction at a mining site in Guyana

The owner of a Bauxite mining site in Guyana undertook a major expansion, which saw the construction of two kilns, and the installation of overhead powerlines. We secured the contract to deliver all their electrical needs for this project.

We provided the client with a complete end-to-end supply chain offering. We devised a bespoke solution (involving significant technical design), managed the procurement process, co-ordinated factory acceptance testing, took care of export packing, documentation, and shipping, together with numerous technical site visits.

In terms of products, we supplied them with overhead powerlines and associated hardware, medium voltage products (e.g. transformers, switchgear, bus ducts, and substations), as well as cable containment (6x40ft containers). The client site is situated in a very remote location. Thanks to our global footprint, we were able to consolidate a lot of the materials at our Miami site before co-ordinating delivery to the client.

The first kiln is now fully operational and has considerably increased production on-site.

MRO contract for a nickel ore mine in Madagascar

We have an ongoing maintenance, repair, and operation (MRO) contract with a client who operates one of the largest nickel ore mines in the world. Our remit is to source, procure, and supply all of their electrical and instrumentation requirements.

This type of contract simplifies the client’s supply chain process and makes procurement, and site asset management, more efficient. Clients work with fewer vendors, they choose pre-agreed fast-moving products from a fixed price catalogue, and they receive their products quickly as the catalogue negates the need to go through the tender process for every item. This client currently has 1,500 products in our MRO catalogue and this number is growing every year.

Working directly with the client requires strict compliance with their quality-assurance standards and policies. This isn’t a problem at R&M as we are ISO certified across a range of markets, and we are pleased to say that we have passed all client audits with flying colours.

We’re delighted to say that we’ve held this particular contract for over five years. We believe this is a testament to our reliability as well as the strong relationship and trust we’ve built up with our client.
